Directions & Parking
We are located at 27 High Street, Camden, Maine, 04843.
High Street is Rt. 1, which is the main road along the coast.
Access by air is best via Portland, Bangor (both about 1 1/2 hour drive from Camden) or the small Knox County/Rockland Airport a few miles away.
A tip to know is that Frontier Airlines has very inexpensive flights ($20-39, no kidding) to Portland from select airports. We use it from Raleigh,NC frequently.
Logan International Airport (BOS) (just under 4 hours South)
Portland Jetport (BWM) (1 hour and 45 minutes South)
Bangor International (BGR) (1 hour 15 minutes North)
Manchester Airport (MHT) (3 hours South-West)
Knox County Regional Airport (RKD) (15 minutes South)
Concord Bus Line is available which can get you to Camden from Portland. Car rentals are an option from all airports.
Coming from the south you will drive through the Camden Village, past the Library on the right (going up a slight hill), and continue past Eaton Street (on your left) to 27 High St. on the right. A good landmark is the 25 mph sign which is right on our property (it's the second 25 mph sign on the right after the library). Also you will see a low stone wall which is on our property, an American flag, and a 6 foot gold-leafed Bellamy eagle over our entryway (I carved) which can all seen from the road. It's easy to drive by our place because the house runs perpendicular to the road.
There is a wide sidewalk on the other side of the street which goes into the village and connects to all of the B & B's.
Here is a map of Camden; we are on the red line at the top right and the closest public parking is designated with a "P" behind the library, also at the top right.
We have a very short driveway which will be reserved for the instructor. Folks can unload their tools preferably the day before, or early on the first day of class. We encourage students to stay in one of the many B & B's within a few blocks of the shop. We are happy to pick up anyone who needs a ride in the mornings. We are also arranging host families in the area for an inexpensive place to stay. In addition, we are also working on acquiring more parking at the shop - updates will be posted here.
